The Prince Gong Mansion was first built during the Qianlong period. From the residence of Heshen (the residence of Princess Hexiao), to the Qing Prince Mansion during the Jiaqing and Daoguang reigns, and then to the Prince Gong Mansion after the Xianfeng reign, it witnessed the Qing Dynasty's rise and fall.

I. Overview

Prince Gong's Mansion, located at No. 17 Qianhai West Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, is the largest princely mansion complex from the Qing Dynasty. Originally the residence of Grand Secretary Heshen, it was later bestowed upon Prince Gong Yixin, hence its name. This mansion carries a wealth of historical and cultural information and is hailed as "half of the Qing Dynasty's history in one Prince Gong's Mansion." Prince Gong's Mansion is now a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.

II. Opening Hours

Open Tuesday through Sunday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (ticket sales stop at 4:10 PM). Please note that the museum is closed on Mondays, so please don't make a wasted trip.

Tickets are priced at 40 yuan per person. Visitors can purchase tickets on-site or book online.

IV. Transportation Guide

Subway: Take subway line 6 and get off at Beihai North Station. Exit from Exit B (Northeast) and walk for about 10 minutes to reach Prince Gong's Mansion.

By bus: Take bus routes 3, 4, 13, 42, 107, 111, 118, 612 or sightseeing line 3 to Beihai North Gate Station, and you will arrive at Prince Gong's Mansion.

Must-see attractions:

Yin'an Hall: The most important building in Prince Gong's Mansion, it is the venue for the mansion to hold important ceremonies and celebrations.

The rear building: located at the junction of the mansion and the garden, it is the longest building among the royal mansions in China and is known as the "treasure" among the "three wonders and one treasure" of Prince Gong's Mansion.

Xijinzhai (Nanmu Hall): It was once the residence of Heshen. The interior decoration is made of Phoebe zhennan wood, with exquisite materials and huge cost.

Western Gate: Located at the southernmost end of the central road of the garden, it is the main gate of the garden. It is carved from white marble and its design is modeled after the gate of Dafahai Garden in the Old Summer Palace, with a Western architectural style.
